“Ongeveer een jaar geleden heb ik Long Distance Calling ontdekt. Deze Duitse heren speelden in het voorprogramma van Katatonia en Swallow the Sun. Hoewel de muziek van dit Long Distance Calling totaal anders was dan van de hoofdacts ging iedereen meteen helemaal los. Het is zeer zeldzaam dat ik zo van mijn sokken geblazen werd door niet alleen de muziek maar vooral het enthousiasme van een openende band. Spelvreugde straalde van het podium af en besmette het publiek met de energie om als een geheel op de muziek te deinen. Destijds vroeg ik mij af of de muziek ook op plaat de nodige energie bevatte. Het antwoord is volmondig ja!”

Trinacria: “Het resultaat van die samenwerking is een spannende mix van het bekende Noorse (black)metal geluid doordrenkt met noise, eletronica en ander instrumentarium. Samen met de indrukwekkende visuals wordt er een goed optreden verzorgd dat het beste omschreven kan worden als avant-gardistisch.”

Long Distance Calling: “Sferische, instrumentale post-rock die we kennen van bands als ISIS en Explosions in the Sky is dit jaar in mindere mate vertegenwoordigd. Long Distance Calling vormt de prettige uitzondering op die constatering. Deze band is blij, heel blij dat zij hier mogen spelen. Deze spelvreugde stralen zij aan alle kanten uit. Als een Griekse fan van achter uit de zaal (en naast mijn oren) om de haverklap schreeuwt hoe geweldig hij ze wel niet vind, lijkt het feest compleet. Een kwartier later drink ik met mijn nieuwe kameraad een biertje op een gedeelde mening!”

“Dat hun merchandise-stand direct na hun set zowat onder de voet gelopen werd door kooplustigen, zegt evenveel als de uiterst positieve reacties die het vijftal uit Münster ten deel viel toen ze hun ding deden op het podium. Weinig instrumentale bands weten je zo bij de strot te pakken, maar hun met progressieve elementen doorspekte post rock vol langgerekte psychedelica, die aan Monkey 3 deed denken, was overweldigend knap. De tevredenheid straalde dan ook van de heren af toen ze als opener op hun allereerste concert van de tournee al meteen zo bejubeld werden door een nokvolle tent.”
