In January 2009 Veronica magazine featured one of our releases three weeks in a row. Week 2, 3 and 4 Saxon, Sepultura and Kreator were reviewed. Not the usual Veronica magazine CD releases, but then again 3 great albums, and it’s nice to see Veronica magazine agreed!

Very cool Wardruna feature in the January issue of Rock Tribune magazine.

Rock Tribune was one of the first of the Benelux media to feature this fantastic band. Shows of Wardruna are rare. The band already played on a Viking ship and in a chapel on a mountain. Later in 2009 Wardruna played at the Incubate festival in an amphitheatre in a forest close to Tilburg in the Netherlands, and the band received raving reviews from fans and media. In January 2010 the band will be performing at the Eurosonic festival in Groningen in the Netherlands.
Wardruna received raving reviews on their 2009 debut Gap Var Ginnunga. Bandleader Kvitrafn (Jotunspor, ex-Gorgoroth) threw his metal roots overboard to make an album full of dark ambient folk. The album is a musical travel trough the history of Norwegian mythology and paganism, made with traditional Norwegian instruments like the goat horn, deer hide frame drums, Hardanger fiddle, lur and tagelharpe (‘viking fiddle’). Also sounds of trees, stones, water and fire can be heard on the album. Many of the recording sessions were executed outdoors at carefully selected locations with instruments or natural sounds that are relevant to the different runes.
